Block Party 2013 Spotlight – Duchovny

by Jordan Wood

ducovnyDuchovny is another band from Greeley that is making a name for themselves in the local music scene. After months of hard work the new and very talented band have played numerous Colorado shows including a headlining spot at the Moxi Theater, and additional shows on their tour in Omaha and Montana. Duchovny is also scheduled to headline at the Larimer Lounge in Denver on September 1st to promote their first album.

Dylan Sonke (vocals, guitar, keys, lap steel guitar), Noel Afan Billups (vocals, keys, ukulele, guitar), Donovan A. Armijo (electric bass, guitar, vocals), Tanner Rogerson (drums, percussion, vocals), Dylan Halpin (saxes, vocals), and Andy Ezell (trumpet, flugelhorn, mandolin, vocals), utilize multiple instruments and different musical styles and techniques to create something beautifully refreshing. Their sound is all the good things about alt-rock, jazz, and pop melded together. Duchovny not only has a special skill for songwriting, but they do an excellent job of complementing their smooth vocals with the instruments instead of being overwhelming. On their Facebook page regarding their spot playing the 2013 Block Party they said, “Our dreams since freshman year are coming true.” Don’t miss what is sure to be a fantastic set from Duchovny!
